BRISTOL UNIVERSITY FOUND GUILTY OF FAILINGS OVER DEATH OF STUDENT
SPERM DONOR AND PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
Hi, it's Deborah and Euzi
Ladies, are you looking at undertaking any sort of fertility arrangement? Please, be very careful to involve a professional clinic instead of a private arrangement. In a recent case a man had been making private arrangements with women who wanted children to be a sperm donor for them. However, what this man failed to do was to tell the women his intentions of applying for parental responsibility and that he suffered from ‘Fragile X syndrome’, a genetic and inheritable condition which causes a range of developmental problems including learning difficulties and cognitive impairment.

GETTING HELP AND COMPENSATION IF YOU WERE ABUSED AS A CHILD
Hi, it's Deborah and Euzi
If you were abused as a child, you can get specialist support to help you deal with what happened and you might also be able to get financial compensation.
There are 3 ways you can get compensation:
by making a legal claim against your abuser in the Civil Court, which is known as ‘suing’ them
through the Criminal Court if your abuser is convicted
from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority

STATUTORY SICK PAY EMPLOYEE FITNESS TO WORK GUIDE
NO RIGHT TO CANCEL CONTRACT FOR BESPOKE GOODS
Hi, it's Deborah and Euzi
Just a note regarding “no right to cancel a contract for bespoke goods”: BE CAREFUL WHEN ORDERING BESPOKE GOODS! In a recent case the Court of Justice has ruled that a consumer’s right to cancel an off-premises contract under the Consumer Rights Directive (CRD) does not apply to contracts for bespoke goods, even if the trader has not yet started producing the goods.

GUIDANCE ON THE USE OF INTIMATE IMAGES WITHIN PRIVATE LAW CHILDREN PROCEEDINGS
Hi, it's Deborah and Euzi
In a recent case the judge has provided important information and guidance on the use of intimate images and how those images should be dealt within private law children proceedings, for example:
intimate images should not be filed without a written application, which should be considered at a case management hearing;
that the party making the application needs to persuade the court of the relevance and necessity of such material to the specific factual issues which the court is required to determine;
that the court should carefully consider the relevance of the intimate images to the issues of the case with the probative value of the evidence;
that if admission of intimate images is permitted, the volume should be limited to what is necessary and the court will determine who can view the images;
if the evidence is considered relevant, the starting point should be to incorporate the lowest number of images to be seen by as few people as necessary; and etc.

Hi, it's Deborah and Euzi
Have your say: the European Commission has launched a call for evidence to seek feedback relating to products produced, extracted or harvested with forced labour. The initiative aims to effectively prohibit making available products produced with forced labour on the EU market, whether they are made in the EU or elsewhere in the world.
The feedback period closes on 20 June 2022 (midnight Brussels time).
