The Lord Chief Justice has shared guidance to judges in the Civil and Family Courts concerning the impacts of coronavirus. He highlights that the current default position in all jurisdictions ‘must be that hearings should be conducted with one, more than one or all participants attending remotely’. The use of technology to conduct business has become inevitable to keep the access to justice and to reduce the backlogs and delays created by adjournments. The Lord Chief Justice has also called for sensitivity for unrepresented parties who may not participate in telephone hearings...
