The Law Commission has announced that it is seeking views on reforms to improve surrogacy laws. The main change proposed by the Law Commission would be to allow intended parents to become legal parents at the moment the child is born, subject to the surrogate being able to object for a short period after the birth, instead of having to apply to the court after the child has been born, which means that they do not become legal parents until the court grants a parental order.
